Sloan Consulting develops community relations campaigns for commercial real estate developers, non-profit organizations and community development corporations in Washington. In addition, the firm crafts promotional strategies for companies that are new to the Washington metropolitan area. Before starting Sloan Consulting, Douglass worked for Mayor Anthony Williams as an outreach coordinator in the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs. While in that position he planned and facilitated community based events for Mayor Williams, served as a business liaison for different business districts, and economic empowerment zones throughout the city, and played a key role as project leader in the Mayor's efforts to erect a disaster relief fund for the families of the victims of the September 11th tragedy. Prior to his stint in the Mayor's office Douglass worked as Community Relations Director for Councilmember Harold Brazil and as a Legislative Analyst for the Judiciary Committee of the City Council of the District of the Columbia. Douglass drafted and reviewed legislation, drafted Committee Reports, and met with industry lobbyists, community representatives, government agency directors, administrators, and agency chiefs for various legislative issues. Douglass also served as the liaison between Councilmember Brazil and various civic associations, community organizations, advisory neighborhood commissions, the District of Columbia School Board, and various national level special interest groups. Prior to that, Douglass worked as a field coordinator for the successful congressional campaign of Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), served as co-campaign manager on an At Large City Council campaign in Washington, and worked on numerous city-wide and ward campaigns throughout the city. Douglass was also elected to public office in Washington as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Ward Four where he served as Vice-Chair on that commission. Douglass is also the former vice-president of both the Ward Four Democrats and the DC Young Democrats. Douglass is a native Washingtonian. He graduated from St. John's College High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Public Relations with a minor in Political Science from American University in Washington, DC. Douglass is an active member of his community and attends Emory United Methodist Church in northwest Washington.
