Description of Vitruvian School of Art
The Vitruvian Fine Art Studio is a visual art studio in Chicago dedicated to clear, effective instruction in representational drawing, painting and sculpture. The kind of experience we offer can be quite hard to find. Much of the material we teach is simply unavailable in most college and university art departments. And while classical ateliers offer much to the serious student, they can also be exclusive, best serving those able to commit several years to full time study. The practical result is that the time-tested methods for learning to "draw what you see" have been out of reach to many who might be interested. At Vitruvian, students can study with us for as long as they wish, but we do not require enrollment in a prolonged program of study. Instead, we offer courses "a la carte", allowing for students to focus their study to suit their own interests and resources. Such diverse topics as Anatomical Écorché, Silverpoint Drawing, Anatomy for Portraiture, and the Bargue Method are just a sample of the unusual classes we offer, and combine for a learning experience that is unique.
