Info
The Home Savings and Loan Company, a subsidiary of United Community Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: UCFC), is a full-service community bank headquartered in Youngstown, Ohio. Founded on January 15, 1889 by James M. McKay, Home Savings has maintained a strong commitment to the communities it serves by cultivating relationships with local residents, businesses and community service organizations. In 1998, Home Savings underwent a mutual-to-stock conversion to form its holding company, United Community, enabling the pursuit of opportunities for corporate growth and product diversity. Home Savings experienced an aggressive and powerful growth period in 2002 with the expansion of its geographic market area when United Community officially acquired Potters Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: PTRS), the holding company for Potters Bank, which operated four branches and one loan production office in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. On April 1, 2002, the former Potters Bank branches became offices of Home Savings.
