Info

Speedscan is a document solutions company, founded in Chicago more than 14 years ago. Today we operate globally with offices in Chicago, Australia, Singapore and clients across Europe, Central America and Asia. We help businesses grow their revenue streams and improve customer service by making customer documents viewable online. With over 250 installations worldwide and an increasing number of hosted clients, we serve a broad range of customers across many industries and geographic markets. Our focus today is on our web archive repository SpeedVIEW that we offer as an in-house licenced solution for clients who wish to manage their documents internally, as well as an outsourced hosted solution, called SpeedVIEW Online for client looking to leverage our inhouse expertise. Together with our strong capabilities in advanced print stream processing, image capture solutions and world class data centers, the outsourced offering is a compelling business solution. To drive this growth we are successfully partnering with other outsource organizations to offer the speedVIEW Online solution as a white label solution for their clients. We have also recently entered into an agreement in the Asia Pacific region to add some advanced product capabilities as well as access to an established and highly professional distribution network in the region. This distribution network will now have the ability to offer speedVIEW Online, thereby increasing the options for their clients who have neither the expertise nor the desire to run an in house solution. 2. Which market segments are you more firmly present in at this stage? Our traditional markets are in the financial services sector and in particular, the Futures Market, Brokerage and Banking. However, we have more than 250 customers across 10 different industry verticals where we can demonstrate world class expertise. 3. Where do you have the greatest presence? With our roots in Chicago, our strongest regional presence is the US Mid West. Having said that though, we have customers right across North America, a strong base of clients in Canada and a number of significant installations in the United Kingdom. We also have our Asian operations, which are based in Sydney, Australia where we have strong outsourced service culture. The new agreement and reseller channel in Asia Pacific is also likely to generate substantial new opportunities in the region. 4. Can you discuss some of the type of opportunities available to you? I guess we have three very exciting areas of our business today. The first is our outsourced repository offering speedVIEW Online, which, through a series of strategic partnerships with outsourcers, such as print and mail companies and processing organizations, is now showing the potential we envisaged a few years back. We have made a substantial investment in world class data centers in Chicago and Sydney to support this business. When combined with our strong print stream processing and image capture capabilities, it is a very exciting offering. The second is our global partnership with a major third party card processing organization which has more than one hundred and twenty banking clients globally, where we have been selected as the global archive solution provider. The opportunity is now to offer complementary document solutions to the 120+ banking clients! The third is our new Asia Pacific distribution organization where through a series of established partners across almost a dozen economies in this rapidly growing region we are offering our innovative software license solutions as well as our exciting outsourced offering. 5. How would you characterize the current environment? While by no means a "boom time", I think the business environment is improving, with more organizations appearing willing to invest in our types of solutions. Over the past two to three years we have focused our efforts on: a) The things we did well, and b) The areas where we had a differentiable offering. Examples of these are our advanced print stream processing capabilities (AFP, Metacode, PDF), our archive repository (SpeedVIEW) and our o utsourced delivery platform SpeedVIEW Online. This focus is really paying off now as we have increased our staffing levels in both our Chicago and Sydney offices and opened a Singapore office. 6. How would you like to see your business develop over the coming 12 or 18 months? Are there any key initiatives or targets that you are gearing up for? We have built a network of strategic distribution partnerships around outsourced processors and print & mail operators and work in tandem with these partners to maximise our presence globally. Also, our new agreement in Asia Pacific has given us access to an established group of experienced and credible partners in the region. This alliance has also doubled our resources and gives us the potential to grow exponentially in the next 12-18 months through the existing and new partner channels. 7. So will there be consolidation on the horizon? Yes. For both the industry in general and for Speedscan. Scale is an important component in both cost management and credibility. I think you will see more consolidation over the next twelve months. For us, having just expanded in Asia Pacific, we are looking at opportunities in the UK, as well as the USA. 8. What enables you to play successfully in this space? I think there are three powerful reasons we are able to play successfully in this space.
