Info

Women@Work is a rapidly expanding network of exceptionally talented current and returning professional women who are seeking work-life balance and flexibility. We connect and serve two constituencies: women who are interested in both part-time and full-time work and the employers who need their top-notch skills and expertise. The company was founded in 2002 to help women at every stage of the workforce reentry process. This continues to be a major focus for Women@Work, but we also have a growing percentage of more recent (within three years) and current professional women who are exploring traditional and non-traditional work options and are interested in the network of women helping other women. As the workforce shrinks, an increasing number of employers in the New York metropolitan area are asking Women@Work to identify candidates for full-time, part-time and "project" placements. Employers are realizing that our returning professional women are an untapped and hard-to-find resourceâ€"and they are witnessing the overall power of our network. In a very short time, both current and returning professional women spread the word about Women@Work job postings and help to identify high caliber candidates that would never be found through typical online, newspaper or agency avenues. Returning professional women are not just an untapped resourceâ€"they will soon become a very critical resource. The traditional source of new workforce talentâ€"27 to 34-year-oldsâ€"will decline by 2.7 million workers just by 2008. One of the fastest-growing workforce demographics is 45 to 64-year-oldsâ€"exactly the women in our network who have an average age of 46. In Fairfield County, CT alone, by 2008, there will be a deficit of 52,000 knowledge-based workers to fill professional jobs. Returning professional women can very capably fill the gap, but employers will not necessarily attract them with high salaries, fancy titles or 401(k) plans. The most sought after employment package feature is the opportunity for work-life balance and flexibility. Returning professional women know all about climbing the corporate ladderâ€"they worried about salary, titles and prestige in their 20s. In their 40s they want work-life balance. And as the workforce shrinks, the most enlightened employers will attract the best and most plentiful talent by offering flexibility.
