Southern Testing provides a broad range of Industrial Hygiene services including field sampling and survey services for exposure to chemical and microbiological contaminants, laboratory services, and method development and validation. Our field services include designing and conducting surveys for assessing workplace exposures to chemical and microbial contaminants. We are also available for consultation concerning sampling strategies and selection of sampling and analysis methods. Our laboratory services include the analysis of samples by most NIOSH and OSHA methods as well as the development and validation of air monitoring methods. A few of the analyses we perform on a regular basis include: Metals Acid Vapors Particulates Organic Vapors Microbial Contaminants For microbial air monitoring we use the Andersen two-stage particle sizing sampler. This cascade impactor collects particulates from ambient air and separates them into respirable and non-respirable fractions. These particles, which often carry bacteria and fungi, are subsequently impinged onto microbiological media. The media are incubated to cultivate the entrapped microorganisms. Used in conjunction with our Hiac-Royco total particulate sizer/counter, the Andersen sampler can provide essential information about the microbial ecology of indoor air.
