Info

Quinlan & Fabish Music Company was founded in 1959 by George Quinlan, Sr. and his business partner, Tom Fabish. Both Mr. Quinlan and Dr. Fabish were music educators who felt a responsibility to provide the best products and the most reliable service available to the community. Their idea to help Chicagoland area schools build music programs, help young music teachers find schools in which to teach, and put high quality instruments into students' hands led to the foundation of a family music store on the south side of Chicago. As music programs continued to grow and expanded into the suburbs, so did Quinlan and Fabish. Since then, a dedicated focus on quality and service has continued to set this family company apart from competitors. Our Founder, George Quinlan, Sr., has held steadfastly to his philosophy through the years as he continues to guide our company. In 1988, Quinlan & Fabish added a suburban showroom with a new repair shop nearby. Prompted by sizable growth, the company purchased its current headquarters in Burr Ridge a few years later, reuniting both showrooms and repair facilities under a single roof. Dubbed "The Directors' Store," this showroom, located at 166 Shore Drive in Burr Ridge, Illinois, continues to serve as the hub for Quinlan & Fabish. The Burr Ridge location boasts our company's largest Customer Service and Repair Departments as well as serving as base of operations for the majority of our School Service Representatives. Additionally, this location offers large selections of student and step-up band and orchestra instruments as well as musical supplies, music, and gifts. Quinlan & Fabish celebrated the start of the new century by adding a Northwest Suburban location in 2001. This location was designed to provide area customers with the same quality service to which they had become accustomed in our Burr Ridge showroom. To further expand upon Quinlan and Fabish's level of service, this new location offered private lessons for area students in eight newly installed state-of-the-art teaching modules. This store proved to be such a success that it too needed to move in the summer of 2006 to its current location, 621 North Main Street in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. The move allowed us to expand our repair services and provide a more comfortable environment for lesson students. Our Mt. Prospect location boasts a complete inventory of instruments, music, accessories, onsite repair personnel, and a string instrument showroom/group instruction classroom. We grew again in September 2002 when we added another location at 299 Montgomery Road in Montgomery, Illinois. Serving our Fox Valley area customers, this addition also has a full complement of rental and professional instruments, supplies, accessories, and musical gifts. In the summer of 2003, we joined forces with Paxton Music in Valparaiso, Indiana, in order to better serve our customers in Northwest Indiana. Our Northwest Indiana location offers a full selection of everything our customers have come to expect including band and orchestra instruments, music supplies and gifts, plus full repair facilities and private music instruction. Through the years, Quinlan & Fabish has sponsored numerous workshops, clinics, and educational events for Chicagoland band and orchestra directors, students, and student teachers. Artists like Doc Severinsen, the Canadian Brass, Ernie Watts, Ed Shaughnessy, Jay Friedman, the Dallas Brass and Charles Vernon; composers such as James Ployhar, Quincy Hilliard, John O'Reilly, Sandra Dackow, and Robert Sheldon; and educators John Paynter, James Kjelland, Sandra Mullins, Bruce Pearson, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, and Sandy Feldstein have teamed with Quinlan & Fabish to help further Music Education in the Chicago area. Clearly, our historically strong commitment to excellence in music education has been the guiding light in selecting the products and services we offer and has contributed greatly to the continuous growth of Quinlan & Fabish for almost 50 years.
