Academy Award winning Blue Sky Studios became a wholly owned unit of Fox Filmed Entertainment in 1999. The studio was founded ten years earlier with a mission to pioneer creatively superior photo-realistic, high resolution, computer-generated character animation for the feature film, television and entertainment industries. Throughout its history, Blue Sky has maintained a single-minded focus on creating high quality imagery, while upholding the highest production standards. Blue Sky's credits include their 1999 Oscar Award winning short film "Bunny" which was the first film to use an advanced ambient lighting technology known as radiosity, and set new standards in cinematic storytelling for the computer-animation industry. Blue Sky's first all CGI feature, "Ice Age", directed by Academy Award winner Chris Wedge, made a record breaking debut in the domestic marketplace with its release on March 15, 2002. Blue Sky Studios, Inc. is headquartered at 44 South Broadway, White Plains, NY and currently has more than 180 staff members whose skills range from traditional cel animation to the latest digital technology. Blue Sky is currently working on "Robots" for release in the Spring of 2005.
