Kiona Publishing was established in 1994 for the sole purpose of publishing magazines for model aviation enthusiasts. Headquartered in West Richland, Washington, Kiona Publishing now produces two special interest magazines for the model aviation industry, along with a soon-to-be-released lifestyle magazine, Mid-Columbian. Our first magazine, originally called Sailplane and Electric Modeler and later known as S&E Modeler, was published bimonthly for model aviation enthusiasts who revel in the flight of quiet sailplanes/gliders and electric-powered model airplanes. That magazine, now called Quiet Flyer, has been expanded over the years and is now published monthly to provide greater content and more in-depth information for our readers. In 2004, we began publishing a new bimonthly magazine, 3-D Flyer, which is geared toward the many aerobatic and helicopter R/C pilots. Both Quiet Flyer and 3-D Flyer contain featured columnists, event coverage, motor reviews, and plans that are exceptionally produced and technically accurate. They also contain technical articles, building tips, plan features, 3-view drawings, kit reviews, scale documentation, airfoil sections, modeler interviews, competition news, and a broad range of remote control (R/C) news. No other special interest magazines offer the content that these two titles provide. The newest addition to Kiona Publishing's repertoire is Mid-Columbian magazine, a lifestyle title that will premiere in early 2006. It will focus on stories of interest that promote the Columbia Basin region of Washington and Oregon, reaching from Yakima and Moses Lake to the Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, and Pendleton. There are many exciting and interesting stories to share about the recreational, educational, and business opportunities in the Mid-Columbia region. Mid-Columbian magazine will bring those stories to the forefront of readers up and down the West Coast. As the expansion and development of the Columbia Basin continues, Kiona Publishing is similarly focused on constant growth.
