Info
Cadmus is a leader in efforts to protect source waters and provide safe drinking water throughout the U.S. We work with water systems and with federal, state, tribal, and local agencies to help ensure our drinking water is safe, our source water protected, and our ground and surface waters are of the highest quality. As a major support contractor with the U.S. EPA's Office of Water, we've worked on every major drinking water rule developed since 1983 to implement the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and its 1986 and 1996 amendments. In addition to providing contaminant occurrence analysis and regulatory development support, we have developed training materials, held workshops, and conducted training sessions across the country on the implementation of over 15 specific SDWA regulations including those for arsenic, lead and copper, total coliform, disinfectants and disinfection by-products, and a suite of surface water treatment rules. We also provide training as well as conduct sanitary surveys, comprehensive performance evaluations (CPEs), and vulnerability assessments. Small systems issues are of particular concern and we have developed a number of self-assessment tools and manuals to assist states and water systems with technical, managerial, and financial capacity issues. Our clients rely on our: Thorough knowledge of EPA's water programs gained by working with the agency's offices of Ground Water and Drinking Water; Wastewater Management; Science and Technology ; and Wetlands, Oceans, and Watersheds. Field experience conducting sanitary surveys, inspections, and other evaluations of drinking water systems, industrial wastewater treatment plants, and underground injection wells. Exceptional ability to provide innovative, multidisciplinary solutions to clients' problems using our staff of scientists, engineers, policy analysts, economists, statisticians, modelers, database developers, and risk communication experts. Cadmus supports clients in the areas of: Drinking Water Program Implementation through training, public education and outreach, data transfer support, and national and state program implementation support. Drinking Water Standards, Risk Management, and Risk Communication through our work on contaminant occurrence, fate, and transport; EPA's Contaminant Candidate List and Six-Year Drinking Water Review process; and the tools we have developed to communicate health and environmental risks of numerous drinking water contaminants. Source Water Protection through assessments, development of technical guidance documents, training, and the conduct of workshops and conferences.. Underground Injection Control through work on large-capacity septic systems, drinking water treatment residuals, and geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide. Drinking Water Security through development of extensive data on U.S. drinking water facilities, training in emergency planning, and creation of numerous small system vulnerability assessment and security-related tools.
