Since founding The Curley Company in 2002, Curley has designed and implemented winning strategies for a variety of clients. She has created successful events for organizations such as the Center for Democracy and Technology, including a 900-person gala dinner with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, and she has provided ongoing strategic communications counsel to clients such as Intellectual Ventures. On a daily basis, she works directly with her clients to create compelling messages and generate opportunities to successfully educate their critical audiences. In addition, Curley acts as an on-the-record media spokesperson for select clients. Prior to forming The Curley Company in 2002, Curley ran the East Coast office of VoteHere, Inc., a leading provider of electronic and online voting solutions. In this capacity she directed the lobbying, public relations, and grassroots divisions of the company, acted as a spokesperson to the media and the public, and testified before state legislative committees. Curley also served as a Vice President at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide. During her four-year tenure at Edelman, she implemented strategic communications programs in the areas of crisis and litigation communication, corporate reputation, message development, public policy communication, and event management. Some of her public relations clients included: Microsoft Corporation; AT&T; The FreeIM and IMUnifed Coalitions; and the Markle Foundation. A highlight of Curley's tenure at Edelman was her management of crisis issues for Microsoft throughout the Department of Justice v. Microsoft Corporation antitrust trial in the U.S. District Court. She is also a recipient of the Public Relations industry 2001 Silver SABRE (Superior Excellence in Branding and Reputation) Award for the "Free Instant Messaging" campaign. Curley has extensive political and policy experience in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. During the Clinton Administration, she was a political appointee in the Protocol Office of the White House and Department of State. In this capacity, she developed and coordinated visits of foreign leaders to the United States, events for the diplomatic corps, and overseas visits by American delegations. Curley also spent three years working for Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.), assisting him during his tenure as chairman of the Senate Finance and Environment and Public Works Committees. During the 1996 presidential election, she was Tipper Gore's scheduler and liaison to the Clinton/Gore campaign. In addition to consulting, Curley was an adjunct professor in journalism and political science for the American University Washington Semester from 2003-2006. Curley has a master's degree in political science from American University. She is a graduate of St. Lawrence University with a bachelor's degree in government, and has studied at the Austro-Amerika Institute in Vienna, Austria. She served on the St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees from 1999-2003 and is a founder, board member and current Chief Financial Officer of The Foundation for Community Betterment.
