SAKHR provides a comprehensive solution for Web enabling Arabic Libraries. The solution creates a layer on top of the current Library System to make it Web Enabled with very sophisticated bilingual (Arabic / English) search and navigation features through an attractive and user friendly Library Web Site.This solution, is distinguished by not affecting the existing library system, accordingly it does not change the current working library system, software, or hardware. At the same time it isolates the Internet user from the existing system by adding an independent layer that includes a copy of the catalogue which is refreshed and updated periodically.Moreover, it builds subject relationship between the library contents without affecting the library classification system, so that the user could easily navigate between different books based on subject relations.Furthermore, the searcher could ask for retrieving the search results in the catalogue categorized by issuance date or distributed according to publishing house, author, subject, or acquiring other books of certain author or other versions of certain publishing house, and so on.The solution has both a Local and National Focus. From the local point of view, it provides a wide variety of services and agents to enhance the browse, search and navigation capabilities in the Library Catalogue. From the national point of view on the other hand, this solution creates a unified interface for all SAKHR solution based libraries on the Internet, which accordingly facilitate building a union catalogue.
