Building Futures operates two separate and distinct housing programs (multifamily housing and rental assistance program); therefore, we utilize two separate and distinct waiting lists. The waiting list for the Rental Assistance Program is maintained by the city's housing "Gatekeeper". Persons wishing to participate in that program should contact Housing Counseling Services at (202) 667-2682. How can a client get into one of your multifamily housing developments? To participate in our multifamily housing program, prospective clients must call Building Futures' Property Manager at (202) 745-0989 and ask to be placed on the waiting list. When a prospective client's name is at the top of the waiting list, our staff will notify him or her and arrange an interview. It is the prospective client's responsibility to notify Building Futures of new phone numbers or a new address. Do we serve families? We serve families and individuals. How much are your services? All of our clients contribute thirty percent (30%) of their income towards their rent. There is no cost to clients for our case management and supportive services. Are clients allowed to switch between your housing programs? Clients may switch between our programs. However, there is no guarantee that the housing program in which they seek participation has openings. Additionally, to be fair to persons currently on the waiting list, all new names are placed at the end of the waiting list for the program. An applicant's status as an existing or former Building Futures client does not give him/her advantage over persons currently on the waiting list.
