Description of Rhode Island Tactical Officers Association
The Rhode Island Tactical Officers Association (RITOA) was established in October of 2000. Many of the most experienced tactical officers in our area agreed that we needed a way to share and exchange information, and to develop and establish standards and certification for tactical teams. With the assistance and support of the Rhode Island Tactical Law Enforcement Community, RITOA was founded. One thing you will notice about RITOA is that, unlike many other tactical agencies, its membership is not limited to SWAT/SRT personnel. If you work in a tactical field such as Range Officer, K-9, Dive Team, Bomb Disposal/EOD, Non-lethal Weapons, Self-defense etc., you are welcome to join our association. We encourage all law enforcement tactical officers to recruit their colleagues as well.
