The factory and offices comprise a 140,000 square foot facility in Ware, Massachusetts, about a two hour drive west of Boston. Quabbin Wire & Cable Co., Inc. is named after Massachusetts' Quabbin Reservoir, one of the country's largest human-made lakes used to store drinking water. The Quabbin covers 39 square miles with a 118 mile shoreline, and is the primary drinking water source for metropolitan Boston. It was built in 1939 by flooding a central Massachusetts valley and has become a tourist attraction because of the wildlife and scenery. Quabbin Reservoir provides nesting habitat for bald eagles and excellent fishing.
