Misery Campground offers 22 campsites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Water, fireplaces and pit toilets are provided. There is an alcohol ban in place for the 2014 season at Green Falls and Mt. Misery Campgrounds from June 6-September 1. Please do not bring alcoholic beverages and plan your visit accordingly.Frog Hollow Horse Camp Area offers 18 campsites on a first-come, first-serve basis. More InformationHikingNehantic, Pachaug, Quinnebaug trail sections pass through this area.Motorcycle RidingPachaug has a 58 mile motorcycle trail that is open year round (except for mud season). The trail traverses through both wooded areas and public roads. Motorcycles are required to ride either on the designated motorcycle trail or on roads that are open to passenger vehicle use. They are not allowed on hiking trails or any other section of a multiple use trail that is not part of the designated motorcycle trail. The trail is marked by small red arrows attached to trees at turns and intersections. For motorcyclists to use the trail, they must have a current motorcycle license and the motorcycle must have a current motor vehicle registration. An A.T.V. registration is not a valid type of registration to operate on our trail. Directions to motorcycle trailhead:From Southeast Connecticut: Take Route 49N (Ekonk Hill Road) 8.3 miles to the intersection of Rt. 49 and 14A. Go left onto 14A West for 1.8 miles. Take left onto Spaulding Road for 0.9 miles. Turn left into gravel parking lot. Parking lot is across from the intersection of Spaulding and Dow Roads. From Norwich Area: Take Route 395N to exit 88. At stop sign take a right onto Rt. 14A East. Go 1.5 miles and take a right onto Spaulding Road. Go 0.9 miles and take left into gravel parking lot. From Massachusetts and Northeast Connecticut: Take Route 395S to exit 88. At stop sign take left onto Rt. 14A East. Go 1.5 miles and take right turn onto Spaulding Road. Go 0.9 miles and take left into gravel parking lot. FacilitiesBoat Launch, Picnic Tables, Pit Toilets Mt. Misery Overlook is the highest point in the vicinity with an elevation of 441 feet, giving a fine view of Pachaug Forest and Voluntown. The overlook is accessible by trail and or car (600 feet from a parking area.) The Rhododendron Sanctuary offers a short scenic walk through an unusual ecological type and is one of very few such areas in New England. The Rhododendron usually blossom around July 4th. Beachdale Pond is stocked with trout and has natural bass, pickerel and bullhead. The fishing area has a fishing platform off of Route 49 with wheelchair access. Pachaug State Forest, Voluntown DirectionsFrom the South: take I-395 north, Exit 85. Go through the 1st light at the next stop light. Take a right onto Route 138 east. Follow for 9 miles to Voluntown then take a left onto Route 49 north. Forest entrance will be 1 mile ahead on the left.From the North: take I-395 south, Exit 85. At the end of the exit ramp, take a left onto Route 138 east. Follow for 9 miles then take a left onto Route 49 north.
