The Lockwood Fire Protection District (LFPD) provides fire protection and emergency medical response to its local residents. The District is located within Amador County, California, stretching along the Shake Ridge Road corridor from Quartz Mountain Road to Dew Drop Road. The Lockwood Fire Department serves a resident population of about 1,000 people, as well as visitors within the District, and responds to approximately 200 emergency calls a year. A Board of Directors governs Lockwood Fire Protection District. The five directors are elected by voters in the district for four-year terms. The Board of Directors meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at Station #1. The Lockwood Fire Protection District is manned solely by volunteer fire fighters. There are currently 13 volunteers managed by a Fire Chief. These volunteers donate their time and effort to protect the district's property against fire and respond to medical emergencies. The Fire Department's main fire station, Station #1, is located at 23141 Shake Ridge Road,Volcano, CA. A second fire station is located at Hale Road and Shake Ridge Road. The Fire Department's equipment includes structure fire engine, wild land fire engine, water tenders, squad fire vehicle, and command fire vehicle. The Lockwood Fire Department staff is available to the district's residents to answer questions concerning fire safety and related matters.
