Info

Wit Animation is commercial production company and animation studio located in an idyllic compound in Venice, California. Founded in 1998 by animation director Jeb Milne, Wit Animation is dedicated exclusively to the art of character animation. Their focus is on the production of television commercials and the development of original content. Canadian born Milne lived in London, England for most of his adult life where he worked as one of London's top session singer. He signed to WEA records as a solo recording artist before eventually transitioning over graphic design and animation. Wit recently produced a spot for McDonalds, featuring a scene in which a live action girl joins her three animated friends for a Fruit & Walnut Salad. Milne directred both the live action as well as the animation. 2005 also saw the completion of a 60 second spot for Heartgard (a beef chewable for dogs), in which a friendly police dog warns of the risks of heartworm. Wit Animation recently created a virtual alter ego for Counting Crows' lead singer Adam Duritz in a music video for the "Shrek 2" hit song "Accidentally in Love." The dreadlocked bunny in the video, who bears more than a passing resemblance to Duritz, is Wit Animation's first CG character in a live action environment. Wit has also produced animated spots for BBC1, Disney, Mattel and The Discovery Channel, as well as many CG spots for England. Notable among these is a campaign featuring five CG characters for Beconase Nasal Spray (through Passion and McCann Erickson) and a ten-spot promotion for "Skips," a British kids' snack, through Publicis London. Wit Animation's in-house projects include "Bimba & Buff," "Beaver," "Mavis in the Park", "Pretty Bird," and "History Rrepeating" all of which may be viewed on this website. Milne created Wit Animation after being hired to design and animate 14 mutant aliens for the 1998 MTV Movie Awards. He assembled a team of four 3D artists and animators and completed the project within a five-week production schedule, helping to enhance the visual impact of MTV Movie Awards. Wit Animation was then commissioned to produce a project for software manufacturer Nvidia. Milne designed and animated "Wanda," a virtual girl, to show off the latest capabilities of the software manufacturer's new GeFORCE 256 chip. In 1999 Wit was to asked to produce the opening and closing animations for Steven Spielberg's Millennium Special. The New Year's eve special aired live on CBS and was simultaneously projected onto three huge screens outside the Lincoln Memorial Center. The animation was an integral part of the evening's program, which was hosted by Will Smith and featured a speech by President Clinton. In January 2002, Wit Animation was awarded a character design and animation assignment for The Game Show Network's series "Press Your Luck." Wit worked with The Content Project to design and animate 60 sequences in which a red character called Whammy would take the contestant's money. GSN was so impressed with the new character that they re-titled the show 'Whammy!' and commissioned five more spots to promote the new series. Wit continues to produce commercials, while developing original content.
