Pima Animal Care Center's mission is to protect the public health and safety of the people and animals within Pima County. Pima Animal Care Center is a part of the Field Health Services Division of the Pima County Health Department. The Health Department is an affiliate of the Integrated Health Care System. The Center is organized into four major divisions, Enforcement, Animal Shelter, Licensing, and Public Relations/Education. The Pima Animal Care Center is located in Tucson with a substation in Ajo, Arizona. Pima Animal Care Center occupies a unique position in the community, because it educates the public and enforces the law in two different but complementary aspects: By protecting the public health and safety through enforcing the animal control laws and ordinances.By protecting the animals through enforcing animal welfare and cruelty ordinances and sheltering abandoned animals.
