Kansas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging
Info
KAHSA is an affiliate of the not-for-profit, American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). AAHSA is the national trade association that represents approximately 5,300 NFP long-term care providers in the nation. Additionally, KAHSA has two sister organizations, the KAHSA Insurance Group (KING) and the Aging Research Institute (ARI). KING is a group-funded workers compensation pool formed under Kansas statute 44-581. KING's formation began in the late 1980's in response to members' need when faced with shrinking insurance options and soaring worker compensation premiums. KING is a non-profit 501(c)(4) corporation that began offering workers compensation coverage to members on April 1, 1990. KING now insures between 65 and 70 KAHSA members generating over $3 Million in premium annually. KAHSA staff provides management services and oversight of the KING program. ASTRA was created in 1988 by KAHSA as a way to expand the services to not-for-profit organizations serving seniors. KAHSA is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit trade association and is not eligible to receive grants from foundations. The KAHSA board felt the need to create an organization that could receive grants and provide additional services to members that would help them to do a better job of caring for their elders.
