Capitol Federal Financial is a federally chartered mid-tier mutual holding company that operates through its wholly owned subsidiary, Capitol Federal Savings Bank (the Bank). The Bank is a federally chartered and insured savings bank headquartered in Topeka, Kansas. The Bank is majority-owned by Capitol Federal Savings Bank MHC, a federally chartered mutual holding company. The Bank attracts retail deposits from the general public and invests those funds primarily in permanent loans secured by first mortgages on owner-occupied, one- to four-family (single-family) residences. It also originates consumer loans, loans secured by first mortgages on non-owner-occupied one- to four-family residences, permanent and construction loans secured by one- to four-family residences, commercial real estate loans and multi-family real estate loans.
