Greater Oregon Behavioral Health , Inc.
Info
Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, Inc. (GOBHI) was created in May 1994 to provide mental health services and coordinate chemical dependency treatment services under the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) for OHP members living in GOBHI affiliate counties. The following Community Mental Health Programs (CMHP) are affiliated with GOBHI:Center for Human Development, Inc., (Union Co.); Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare; Columbia Community Mental Health; Grant County Center for Human Development; Harney Behavioral Health; Lake County Mental Health Center; Lifeways, Inc. (Malheur Co.); Morrow/Wheeler County Behavioral Health Services; Mountain Valley Mental Health Programs (Baker Co.); Umatilla County Mental Health; and Wallowa Valley Mental Health Center. In addition, New Directions Northwest (Baker County) and Next Door, Inc. are affiliates who are not CMHPs but provide services statewide. GOBHI manages the mental health benefits under the OHP for about twenty-six thousand enrolled Medicaid adults, families and children per month. GOBHI does not provide these services itself but has contracts with CMHPs, hospitals and other providers to serve our members. Occasionally the community-based mental health service that our affiliates provide is not sufficient to meet the most serious mental health problems of our members. GOBHI therefore contracts with a number of hospitals in and around its region that provide in patient treatment. Several have specialized programs for children and adolescents and some specialize in treating those with both mental health and chemical dependency problems. GOBHI is governed by a Board of Directors made up of the director of each of its local provider agencies. In addition, up to twenty-five percent of the Board can be represented by consumers, family members, advocates and community partner agencies. The Board of Directors elects a seven member Executive Committee that oversees GOBHI's administration between meetings of the full Board. Any Board Member can be elected to the Executive Committee. Our Office is located on the campus of the Columbia Gorge Community College in The Dalles, Oregon. The GOBHI office staff is made up of Quality Improvement Staff, Administration, Management Information Staff and Accounting. The GOBHI staff is dedicated to working with consumers and providers in an effort to ensure our members are getting the mental health service that they need in all of our communities, large and small.
