Tri-State Delivery is a niche transportation and logistics provider principally dedicated to the carbon black market. The Company has a demonstrated track record of meeting the demands of producers and manufacturers in this sector. The Company provides time-sensitive, high-quality service through an established distribution network of carbon black producers and users. This network allows it to compete with rail transportation to meet the critical needs of its customers. Carbon black is the major raw material component used in rubber manufacturing. The Company has built a reputation for providing a high quality, reliable, time sensitive service to customers who practice just-in-time manufacturing to remain competitive. Unlike rail carriers who often take sixty to ninety days to modify distribution patterns, Tri-State Delivery can provide pickup and delivery of specified quantities of carbon black on as little as a few hours notice. Without adequate supplies of carbon black, many tire manufacturing operations would be forced to shut down, impairing key deliveries and generating significant losses. Rail transportation alternatives simply cannot provide the responsiveness required by carbon black users. To further support the just-in-time manufacturing discipline, the Company has developed a satellite tracking system that allows customers to track shipments via the Company's website or through a secure portal available on the internet. This type of continued partnership between the Company and its customers leads to increased market share from the less reliable rail carriers who are comparatively unresponsive and inflexible. Tri-State Delivery has developed a proprietary Network Management System (NMS) that provides for superior customer service and significant opportunities to leverage financial performance. Based on predictable producer and customer production schedules, Tri-State is able to schedule most pick-up and delivery points 30 days in advance. The Company currently transports approximately 13,000 loads of carbon black annually using a specially designed hopper car. One of these carbon black trailers can transport approximately 44,000 pounds per load. Conversely, one railcar can transport approximately 100,000 pounds of carbon black per load. Due to transportation restrictions, railcars typically haul only 6 loads of carbon black annually or a total of 600,000 pounds. The specialized trailers employed by the Company, however, can transport on average 45 loads of carbon black per year for a total of nearly 2.0 million pounds. Therefore, one carbon black trailer can be as much as three and a half times more productive than one railcar.
