The Village of Stone Park for the first time ever in their history on October 18, 2006 was the recipient of the 2006 Governor's Home Town Awards for the community with a population of 5,001 - 10,000. The Village of Stone Park created the Stone Park Public Safety Department in an effort to strengthen the Village's ability to respond to public safety concerns.
