Helahanda.com, the internet radio station is the result of a careful study of the severe crisis facing "Hela nation",conducted by the New York Society of United Sri Lankans working committee and other "Hela Puthun" scattered all over the world. We can all agree the propagation of the real facts is a basic need if Hela Nation is to be rescued at this time. It is ironical that the name change of a country from Hela to Sinhale, Taprobane, Serendib, Ceylon, and presently, Sri Lanka, combined with the confusion created by the word "Jathiya" which is widely used as an equivalent for both words "nation" and "race" in the English language, has paved the way for a group of ruthless terrorists to bring a country to the brink of disintegration. Therefore, we believe that the "Hela Nation" concept should be understood and agreed upon as part of conflict resolution if we are to achieve a stable and lasting solution. Elaborating this, only Hela people hold the sovereign national rights of the Hela Nation. All others, i.e., Hela Tamils, Hela Burghers, and Hela Others, are valuable partners of the Hela Nation (vathagath hawulkarayo) who deserve their complete civic and human rights and should be treated with dignity, respected and protected by the majority Hela people.
