Description of Spartanburg County Public Libraries
Spartanburg County is the largest county by area in South Carolina and is served by the Spartanburg County Public Libraries, which include 10 library facilities, one bookmobile, home delivery, and story caravans. Established in 1885, the library system has continued to grow, delivering information and knowledge to the community as well as exhibit spaces and meeting rooms. SPCL features the Kennedy Room of Local History and the Cleveland Genealogical Collection. SPCL's holdings include 800,000 books and serial volumes, nearly 1,500 magazine and newspaper subscriptions, nearly 40,000 audio items, more than 20,000 video items, and 520 electronic-format items for use by over 80,000 library patrons.
