McClellan Elms Antiques is owned and operated by proprietor, Donna Perry. Donna has been a collector and decorator of antiques for over 20 years. In 1999, Donna decided to take her love of antiques to the next level. She research the antiques business and in 2000, started Donna's Country Antiques. She started by participating in three group shops including locations in Sandwich, Plymouth, and Westboro Massachusetts. The business grew very quickly and it became difficult to manage the three locations. Donna decided to consolidate her locations and started looking for the ideal spot. In looking through Antiques Homes magazine, she ran across an ad for the McClellan Elms Inn, which was for sale. The location was ideal based on its proximity to both the Putnam, Ct and Sturbridge, Ma. Antiques districts. Once she actually saw the building, she knew that it had to be an Antique Shop. Within 30 days, the house was purchased and the shop was opened. Based on the historical significance of the property, Donna decided to keep the McClellan name and in October, 2002 McClellan Elms Antiques opened its doors. Donna's philosophy is to buy quality antiques, at a price that makes them capable of being sold below book price and affordable to dealers and consumers alike. As a result of this philosophy, almost half of her business in the first year of operation, was to other dealers. The shopping experience at McClellan Elms Antiques is enhance by the hospitality. Donna serves complimentary coffee and fresh baked goods daily. Many customers just come in to look at the house and feel the history. That's okay with Donna. She loves to talk antiques and make the customers comfortable.
