With an exquisite new $27 million facility set on 50 private acres within Greater Portland, Spring Harbor is southern Maine's only private psychiatric treatment and recovery center. Specializing in the care of children and adolescents, Spring Harbor also is Maine's only short-term inpatient treatment site for youth who experience both acute mental illness and developmental disorders, such as autism. We also partner with adult patients of all ages in their recovery from co-occurring mental health and substances challenges, all in the comfort of our spacious, well-appointed new campus. Upon discharge from the hospital, our patients are referred to aftercare treatment with the providers of their choice. The majority will receive continued treatment within our expansive network of outpatient mental health services. This network exists due to a unique collaboration with Maine Medical Center, which allows us to offer the most complete array of psychiatric treatment, physician-training, and medical-research programs north of Boston. Overseeing our work is a 21-member volunteer Board of Trustees. More than half of these members are consumers of mental health services or have someone in their family who is. Trustees hail from all corners of southern and central Maine to help ensure that Spring Harbor's care is responsive to the needs of the many communities we serve.
