Description of Harbor Community Bank

Harbor Community Bank, generally known as HCB or "The Community Bank", was formed in 1973 by a local group to provide a bank that would "Be responsive to the financial needs of the people that make up the communities it serves". The original group of founders was made up of farmers, ranchers, lumbermen, and other local business owners. Over 300 local investors scattered throughout North Pacific County, Western Lewis County and South Grays Harbor County purchased shares and the bank immediately flourished. The first office was established in Raymond, which was followed thereafter with offices in South Bend, Grayland and Pe Ell. The bank has grown steadily with total assets now exceeding forty-eight million dollars. This growth can be attributed to "responsiveness to the financial needs of its' customers". When "HCB" opened its doors, its major competition in both Raymond and South Bend were branches of a Seattle based bank who gathered the money from the local community and invested it elsewhere. In Raymond, less than 7% of the money was invested locally and in South Bend less than 18% was invested locally. "HCB" on the other hand invests almost 80% of depositor's funds locally providing for new homes, businesses and personal needs. "HCB" has for many years been the leading provider of mortgage loans in its market. All of the above are important but most "HCB" customers comment on the excellent service they receive; speed in granting loans, speed in answering questions and courteous service always. Best of all, at "HCB" you deal with real live people to answer all of your banking questions.
