Land of Medicine Buddha is a Center devoted to the transmission of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition and values through teaching, meditation and community service, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, also servicing the Monterey Bay and San Francisco areas. Our organization is based on the Buddhist tradition of Lama Tsong Khapa of Tibet as taught to us by our founder, Lama Thubten Yeshe and our Spiritual Director, Lama Zopa Rinpoche. We provide integrated education through which people's minds and hearts can be transformed into their highest potential for the benefit of others, inspired by an attitude of universal responsibility. As caretakers of a sacred space we offer facilities, spiritual teachings & services, and an atmosphere supporting people's inner healing and development to their full potential of infinite wisdom and compassion. Land of Medicine Buddha is a Center dedicated to healing and developing a good heart. We are a Tibetan Buddhist Center and a member of the international FPMT organization (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition - see www.fpmt.org). This is an excellent facility for groups to hold their workshops, a perfect place to come and learn about Tibetan Buddhism from the many great Tibetan masters that teach here annually as well as from our experienced western teachers. Stay in our beautiful guest rooms, each with its own bathroom, or enjoy this outstanding property by visiting just for the day to take a hike in the woods, ride mountain bikes, meditate, or just relax away from the city life. Land of Medicine Buddha is a beautiful mountain Center in California's wonderful redwood forest that serves many purposes. You do not have to be Buddhist to enjoy our facilities! We are open to the public year round and welcome everyone who wishes to come enjoy our sacred space. We are situated in 170 acres amongst the redwoods in Soquel, California, just south of Santa Cruz, and are adjoining 10,000 acres of state forest. Our physical location provides a perfect space for guests to relax, connect to their spiritual inner being, and recover from the strains of life. Friends come back month after month, year after year.
