McNeill Street Pumping Station, the original waterworks of the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, operated from 1887 until the retirement of it's steam-driven equipment in 1980. McNeill Street had the distinction of being both one of the first and one of the last municipal water treatment plants of it's kind. The McNeill Street Pumping Station Preservation Society is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the plant through conversion of appropriate portions of the plant into a technological and cultural museum.
