Shelby Electric Cooperative was informed that the linemen were finished with their efforts to help restore power to members of Corn Belt Energy and would be heading back home to Shelbyville today. According to Corn Belt's Marketing/Member Relations Coordinator, Laurie Vial, all residential members of Corn Belt Energy in their northern region had service by midnight Tuesday 2/27/07. Work continues today to restore service to their non residential services such as grain bins, sheds, advertisement signs etc. Crews from 13 Illinois co-ops sent 50 employees to assist our Central and Northern region personnel with restoration. Eight linemen from Shelby Electric Cooperative were sent up to the Princeton, Illinois area to assist Corn Belt Energy restore power and replace poles that were damaged during a recent winter storm. "We sent our crews out Monday morning around 1 a.m. and they worked until midnight ... crews were back at it by 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning," said Terry Oldham, construction Superintendent for Shelby Electric Cooperative. The linemen dispatched to assist Corn Belt Energy include Kris Koehler, Brian Chevalier, Jerry Johnston, Brian Bunton, Roger Jones, Matt Clark, Blake Summers, Nick Sloan. Corn Belt Energy is headquartered in Bloomington, Illinois.
