Info

For more than 85 years, HomeStreet Bank has been committed to building long-term relationships with our customers and communities. HomeStreet opened in Seattle in 1921 as Continental Mortgage and Loan Company, financing the construction of single family homes, apartments and commercial buildings. During WWII, Continental was the third largest mortgage lender in the region, building homes for ‘war workers' who were flooding the Seattle area. After the war, the company was instrumental in developing Northgate Shopping Center in Seattle (now called Northgate Mall), one of the nation's first shopping malls. Continental began offering mortgage loans in Hawaii in 1978 and in Oregon in 1984. Two years later, the company started Continental Savings Bank, eventually expanding its banking services to Washington, Oregon and Hawaii. In 2000, Continental changed its name to HomeStreet Bank to reflect the company's local, community-oriented focus. A complete line of business deposit and lending products and services was launched. HomeStreet has always strived to do the very best for its customers and communities through community involvement, products and services, and support for housing and for parks. sEach year, HomeStreet contributes at least two percent of its average annual pre-tax profits to organizations in its communities. Today, at nearly three billion dollars in assets, HomeStreet is one of the largest privately-owned banks in the Northwest and Hawaii.
