Cancer Lifeline
Non-Profit
Info
Cancer Lifeline was founded in 1973 by a cancer patient who could not find the community resources and support she needed to help her "live with it." From the start, the mission of Cancer Lifeline has been to optimize the quality of life for all people living with cancer. We became a United Way agency in 1975. Gifts and grants provide most of our support, enabling Cancer Lifeline to serve more than 9,000 people a year. Although everyone's experience with cancer is unique, sharing the journey with others can strengthen your spirit, broaden your knowledge and connect you with others who can help make the way less lonely and less fearsome. Cancer Lifeline provides a unique array of services to cancer patients and survivors, their family members, caregivers, friends and co-workers. Our programs are based on the vital needs of people living with cancer. We offer you choices and encourage you to take control. We provide information so that you can make better choices. We stress inclusion rather than isolation. And most of all, we provide the environment where you have the freedom to express feelings without being judged. People all over Washington State use the toll-free 24-Hour Lifeline program for emotional support and information. Those in the Puget Sound region can also take advantage of classes, programs and resources offered at Cancer Lifeline - Greenlake in Seattle.
