SCI was founded in 1986 and built its international reputation as a culinary institute attracting students from around the world. In 1998, SCI - among culinary arts schools - became a part of Career Education Corporation (CEC), which is dedicated to supporting a first-class network of proprietary educational institutes. Its vision is to both train students for professional culinary arts careers and place graduates in highly coveted positions within their field. In 1999, the renowned Le Cordon Bleu arrived in the United States and, through its partnership with CEC, successfully combined classical French cooking techniques with modern American technologies. This union has ushered in a new era for SCI and what it can offers its students in the way of world-class culinary arts training.
