The Scarsdale Public Library was founded in 1928. It operates under a charter from the New York State Education Department and is governed by a seven member Board of Trustees. The mission of the Library is to serve the diverse cultural, professional, recreational and educational needs of community residents. Service excellence is the hallmark of the Scarsdale Public Library. The Library was built in 1951 and was expanded in 1975 and again in 1998. The 24,000 foot building is handicapped accessible. The Scarsdale Public Library is a member of the Westchester Library System, providing borrowers with access to extensive library resources throughout Westchester County.
