Info

Founded in 1921, Stewart's Shops currently operate 300 convenience stores in 28 New York State counties and two counties in Vermont, all of which will carry the Pride of New York emblem. Three-quarters of all the products found in its stores are either made or distributed by Stewart's. The Saratoga Springs-based company purchases more than 10 million gallons of raw milk exclusively from New York dairy farmers every year. Stewart's also bottles 11 million gallons of beverages, sells 2.5 million gallons of ice cream and purchases 1,500,000 eggs from New York producers annually. Currently, Pride of New York has nearly 600 members that use the program's emblem, which shows the Statue of Liberty standing majestically near a barn with rolling fields. Consumers can find Lady Liberty on a variety of products including dairy products, fresh produce, salsas, jellies, beverages, meats, Christmas trees and more. Pride of New York, created by Governor Pataki and administered by the State Department of Agriculture and Markets, is a voluntary, member-based initiative, developed for the promotion of food and agriculture products grown or processed within New York State. Use of the Pride of New York emblem identifies New York agricultural and food products that meet the program's quality and program standards. Retailers, producers, packers, processors and manufacturers of New York food and agricultural products are all eligible to participate in the program.
