The San Jose Sports Authority is a non-profit organization that serves as the sports marketing agency for the City of San Jose. Since our inception in 1991, we have worked with our community partners to bring more than 150 premier events and programs to the San Jose area. The following is just a sample of our premier events:2001 & 2002 Siebel Classic in Silicon Valley (Senior PGA event) 2001 Major League Soccer All-Star Game 2002 NCAA Men's West Regional Basketball Championships 2003 USOC Titan Games: The Road to Athens 2003-2008 Pac-10 Women's Basketball Championships 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Rhythmic Gymnastics and Trampoline 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Judo and Taekwondo 2005 Taylor Woodrow Grand Prix of San Jose 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championships San Jose Regional 2007 USA Gymnastics Visa Championships Just as important as the high-profile events listed above, is the dedication of the San Jose Sports Authority to youth and amateur athletics. The REACH Youth Scholarship program was started in 1996 by the Sports Authority to recognize the role that sports play in helping kids develop self-confidence and the strength to persevere in the face of adversity. The mission of The First Tee of San Jose, a program of the San Jose Sports Authority, is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development through the game of golf. The Nine Core Values , such as integrity, honesty and perseverance , are integrated into classes offered throughout the year. Co-founded by the Sports Authority and community activists in the mid-1990's, the Greater San Jose After-School All-Stars provides educational, cultural and community enrichment activities for youngsters from the ages of 7 to 17. Chaired nationally by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the organization currently serves approximately 7,000 youngsters through 15 national chapters.
