Wings Press publishes multicultural books, chapbooks, CDs and broadsides that, we hope, enlighten the human spirit and enliven the mind. We know well that writing is a transformational art form capable of changing the world by allowing us to glimpse something of each other's souls. This chapbook series is named in honor of Joanie Whitebird, founder of Wings Press. As the Texas Observer described her, Joanie was "an old-fashioned fence hater, a wire-cutter, a woman in love with the open road, with open relationships, with open futures fraught with possibilities." We honor her spirit by using this series to introduce new and innovative poetic voices.
