The ERC Corporation was founded in 1981 and built its first resort in Newport, Rhode Island. The company subsequently developed seven resorts located in New England in both the Narragansett Bay region surrounding Newport and the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. ERC became a wholly owned subsidiary of Equivest in 1998.
