The LoveSac Corporation had its origins in 1995 when Founder and CEO Shawn D. Nelson, then 18, made the first Oversized Sac by tearing up foam by hand and stuffing it into a seven-foot-wide beanbag he made on his mother's sewing machine. Soon neighbors and friends wanted their own Sac. At a tradeshow, Shawn met a vendor who ordered 12,000 LoveSacs. The first LoveSac store opened November 17, 2001. The company now has over 70 stores nationwide and 2 in Australia. Shawn recently expanded the ongoing exposure of the company when he won the top prize on the reality TV show, The Rebel Billionaire.
