Timber Truss Housing Systems, Inc. was founded in 1960 by W. A. James, who presently serves as Chairman of the company. Timber Truss was one of the first fabricators of wood trusses back in the sixties and continues to introduce innovative products and technologies today. The present location, at 525 McClelland Street, Salem, Virginia has office and manufacturing space of approximately 132,200 square feet and additional lumber storage facilities of about 22,300 square feet, on a 60 acre site. Mr. James and some of the early management team envisioned the idea of a package of materials that would be available from one source. These materials were all to be of high quality and arranged in attractive designs that were structurally engineered and quoted with the maximization of standard materials. This idea of "Packaged Homes" was born in the late sixties and soon we were designing our own line of homes called TrussMark® Homes. These homes were offered with new technology, locally inspired design ideas, sound structural engineering, complete building plans, and accurate material quotations. Timber Truss was able to combine this type of product with good personal service and quality sales representation to continue the growth of the company to the present time. The TrussMark® Home program gained a reputation for having quality engineering, design, and great value. We gained a reputation for being prompt with our deliveries and accurate with our manufactured products and material quantities. We have shipped to a total of 12 different countries including Russia, Germany, Spain, Japan, Korea, China, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Mexico, Chile, and Cyprus. We have gained valuable experience in the art of loading containers and processing export work orders, as well as working in metric measurements and in foreign languages. We celebrated the grand opening of our new showroom in the fall of 2000. Our new 6000 square foot showroom serves as an educational building center as well as showcase for many of the products that we manufacture and sell.
