Info

A not-for-profit organization, R3 Center was founded in 2001 by Mickey Richardson, a.k.a. MickeyLive, one of the industry's premier creative software trainers. A firm believer in providing children with professional tools at a younger age, R3 Center is focused on training grades 5 - 12. R3 Center believes technology is a tool for life. Its problem-solution environment, inspires children to look to the future. In 2002 with its partners, R3 Center introduced its summer camp program, Technology Twister. With over 500 children responding to the program, R3 Center and its sponsors selected 80 campers. In this program each camper took home knowledge as well as hardware and or software to continue learning at its conclusion. In the fall of 2002, R3 Center launched the Weekend Project. The goal of this program was to introduce children to new technologies with a summer camp like experience yet lasting just a weekend. The Weekend Project has sold out at each offering. In 2003, R3 Center continued its growth by partnering with the Rogers, Arkansas school district to provide digital media curriculum within its high school. Over the past three years, R3 Center has reached over 3,000 different students in grades 5 - 12. Now in 2004, R3 Center looks to expand its reach with the purchase of a 50 foot tractor trailer. Originally used as a mobile eye surgery lab, the trailer was converted into a state-of-the-art mobile computer lab. Working with architects from Ken Shireman and Associates of Fayetteville, AR, the trailer quickly earned its name "TechTank".
