Info
The Ometeca Institute is a non-profit organization devoted to the study of the relationship of the humanities and science. Ometeca: a word from the Nahuatl meaning two in one: humanities and science. Its purposes are: To study the relations of the humanities and the sciences through a scholarly journal, publications of pamphlets and books, and through workshops and conferences. Through this study we hope to generate theory about a unified view of the humanities and the sciences. This would help create and integrate a new paradigm. The study of the relations of the humanties and science in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian literatures and cultures provide a limitless resource which, to this day, have not been fully explored. Up to now we had Working Sessions in Santa Fe, New Mexico and New Brunswick, New Jersey; Puebla, Mexico; San Ramón, Costa Rica; Cumaná, Venezuela; and Buenos Aires and Pinamar, Argentina. The 2005 Working Session will be in Mexico City, Mexico. In a working session all papers to be presented are circulated in advance. This way, all members can discuss and contribute to the development of new theoretical approaches. In order to accomplish these goals, we need the assistance of interested persons. Tax deductible financial contributions are gratefully accepted.
