Laclede Gas Company (Laclede Gas or the Utility) is a public utility engaged in the retail distribution and sale of natural gas. The Company operates in Missouri, serving more than 630,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in St. Louis city and 10 other counties in eastern Missouri. Laclede Gas is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Laclede Group, Inc. (Laclede Group). During the fiscal year ended September 30, 2007 (fiscal 2007), the Utility focused its gas supply portfolio around a number of large natural gas suppliers with equity ownership or control of assets situated to complement Laclede’s regionally diverse firm transportation arrangements. In fiscal 2007, Laclede Gas purchased natural gas from 19 different suppliers to meet existing gas sales and storage injection requirements. Natural gas purchased by Laclede Gas for delivery to its utility service area through the Mississippi River Transmission Corporation (MRT) system totaled 59.6 billion cubic feet.(Source: 10-K)
