The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is an American culinary college located in Hyde Park, New York, United States. The CIA is a nonprofit academic institution for higher learning with branch campuses in St. Helena, California, and San Antonio, Texas, as well as a campus in Singapore. The college offers offering bachelor's and associate degrees with majors in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, and culinary science, as well as certificate programs in culinary arts and professional wine studies. The CIA also offers continuing education for professionals in the hospitality industry as well as conferences and consulting services. Founded in 1946, the college was founded as a vocational institute for returning veterans of World War II. The CIA is located in upstate New York and was called the Harvard of cooking schools by Julia Child and the best cooking school in the world by Paul Bocuse.
