River Valley School, 451 Parkfair Drive, Sacramento, CA (916) 483-8575. One of the oldest in Sacramento, River Valley's Independent Study Plus Program (grades 7-12) is designed to support each student in attaining the highest level of academic success for his potential. It features a curriculum designed to challenge a wide range of students from those not yet reaching their potential to college prep. Often our junior and seniors are involved with In-Community Learning through advanced education classes in local community colleges or internships with local businesses. River Valley's approachable teachers make each student feel comfortable asking for help which is provided through weekly instruction, one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction (in Spanish). We also work closely with parents, teaching them how, in just a few minutes a day, to be effective teacher's aides at home. As a result, nearly all River Valley students are on the honor roll!
