Founded in 1960 as a teacher education center for the North Bay, Sonoma State University has been a leader in nursing education since 1972, when it began offering one of the nation's first RN to BSN programs. SSU's nursing program prepares nurses to think critically and exercise leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. All of its nursing programs are approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
