In 1992, FileTek released Storage Machine/2, based on an open UNIX platform. This product supported second generation optical technology, faster jukeboxes, and report viewing software. Many financial companies, such as Salomon Smith Barney, Fidelity Investments, and Chase Bank, deployed Storage Machine/2 to store and control critical account information on non-alterable media and/or to comply with SEC regulations for retaining data on permanent media. FileTek introduced StorHouse® in 1998 for accessing high volumes of relational and non-relational detailed data. StorHouse is a complete information storage and management system that dramatically lowers the cost of data ownership. It provides speedy direct record and row-level access to data across all media, including tape and MAID. StorHouse users include AT&T, WorldCom, BellSouth, United Airlines, and the UK Meteorological Office. In April 2007, FileTek purchased substantially all the assets, including the intellectual property, of Trusted Edge, Inc., a provider of ECompliance/Discovery solutions. Deployed at the network's edge, where 80% of information is created, Trusted Edge is a desktop solution that classifies all types of data (e-mails, documents, and files) upon creation and works within policy parameters to help companies/organizations meet today's stringent regulatory requirements. In June 2007, FileTek achieved "Certified for SAP NetWeaver®" status for its integration with the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 platform. FileTek's StorHouse/BI delivers enterprise-class storage, management, and direct row-level access of both near-line and online data in a single software solution. Over time, FileTek has been honored with numerous awards by industry-leading organizations worldwide. These awards include the "IT Product of the Year" from the High Technology Council of Maryland, "DM Review 100" from DM Review magazine, and the "Process Innovation Award" from Kinetic Information. From its inception, FileTek has invested significant resources in research and development. The United States Patent Office recognized FileTek for its innovative work and granted the company numerous patents based on its leading-edge technology. Current development efforts include providing enabling software and drivers that extend database systems with new storage devices in the storage hierarchy, designing and developing new client server interfaces, and adding additional functionality.
