A selective liberal arts and sciences college on the Mississippi River in the Rock Island, Ill., providing a $2,000 Augie Choice grant to every student. Founded in 1860 by Swedish settlers, the college is on a 115-acre wooded campus in the Quad Cities metropolitan area and is home to some 2,500 students from varied geographic, social, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. Student-to-faculty ratio is 12-to-1.
